Trading Setup

Configure your trading parameters and risk management

Trading Configuration

Proper trading setup is crucial for successful automated trading. This guide covers all the settings you need to configure for optimal performance and risk management.

Position Sizing

Configure how much to invest per signal:

  • Fixed Amount: Use the same dollar amount for every trade (e.g., $100 per signal)
  • Percentage of Portfolio: Risk a percentage of your total balance (e.g., 2% per trade)
  • Risk-Based Sizing: Calculate position size based on stop-loss distance
  • Custom Rules: Set different sizes for different channels or signal types

Risk Management Settings

Daily Limits
  • • Maximum daily loss limit
  • • Maximum number of trades per day
  • • Cool-down period after losses
  • • Profit target for the day
Trade Settings
  • • Default stop-loss percentage
  • • Take-profit multiplier
  • • Slippage tolerance
  • • Order type preferences

Exchange API Configuration

Best practices for API setup:

  1. Create API keys with minimal necessary permissions
  2. Enable only "Spot Trading" - never enable withdrawals
  3. Set IP whitelist restrictions if your exchange supports it
  4. Use different API keys for different strategies
  5. Regularly rotate your API keys for security

Signal Filtering

Filter which signals to trade automatically:

  • Pair Whitelist: Only trade specific cryptocurrency pairs
  • Minimum Volume: Skip pairs with low trading volume
  • Time Filters: Trade only during specific hours
  • Signal Quality: Filter based on signal confidence scores

Pro Tip: Start conservative with your settings. You can always adjust them as you gain experience and confidence in the system.

Security

Protect your account and funds

Security Best Practices

Security is paramount when dealing with automated trading. Follow these best practices to keep your account and funds safe.

Account Security

  • Strong Password: Use a unique, complex password with at least 12 characters
  • Two-Factor Authentication: Enable 2FA on both Tramate and your exchange accounts
  • Email Security: Secure your email account with 2FA as it's used for password resets
  • Regular Updates: Change passwords regularly and keep software updated

API Key Management

Critical API security practices:

  1. Minimal Permissions: Only enable "Spot Trading" permissions
  2. Never Enable Withdrawals: Your funds should always stay in your exchange account
  3. IP Whitelisting: Restrict API access to specific IP addresses if possible
  4. Regular Rotation: Change API keys every 30-60 days
  5. Monitor Usage: Check API logs regularly for suspicious activity

Recognizing Scams

Red Flags to Watch For:

  • • Requests for your private keys or withdrawal permissions
  • • "Guaranteed profit" claims or unrealistic returns
  • • Pressure to invest large amounts quickly
  • • Unofficial communication channels or fake websites
  • • Requests to send funds to external wallets

Data Protection

How Tramate protects your data:

  • Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit and at rest
  • Access Controls: Strict employee access controls and audit logs
  • No Fund Access: We never have access to withdraw or move your funds
  • Regular Audits: Security audits and penetration testing

Emergency Procedures

If you suspect a security breach:

  1. 1. Immediately disable your API keys on the exchange
  2. 2. Change your Tramate account password
  3. 3. Contact our support team immediately
  4. 4. Review all recent trading activity
  5. 5. Enable additional security measures

Remember: Tramate staff will never ask for your passwords, private keys, or API secrets. Always verify communications through official channels.
